Ahmed N. Alrikhaimi
Overview
Ahmed Alrikhaimi is a construction and projects partner in the Houston office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Ahmed's practice focuses on energy and infrastructure-related project development, financing and associated corporate transactions. Ahmed has extensive experience in preparing and negotiating agreements pertaining to a broad range of energy transactions and projects, including engineering, construction and procurement (EPC) contracts and related development agreements for the supply, maintenance and operation of major equipment. A mechanical engineer by training, Ahmed has represented project sponsors, owners and developers in a wide range of projects throughout the U.S. and the world in a broad range of energy sectors including oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical, power generation and renewables (battery storage, solar and wind) with project values generally ranging from $100 million to over $2 billion in value. Ahmed has advised such clients in structuring their project development agreements by thoroughly assessing related geographic, commercial, technical and legal considerations.
Prior to law school, Ahmed worked as a mechanical engineer for an internationally recognized energy company where he was initially trained in central engineering, he then gained hands on experience in the field working as a process engineer at one of the largest oil & gas processing facilities in the world.

- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including an EPC agreement, turbine supply agreement and long-term maintenance agreement for a 400 MW natural gas fired simple cycle power plant located in Texas on behalf of nationally recognized leading retail electricity and power generation company.
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including an EPC agreement, turbine supply agreement and long-term maintenance agreement for a 412 MW natural gas fired simple cycle power plant located in Texas on behalf of nationally recognized leading retail electricity and power generation company.
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including an EPC agreement, turbine supply agreement and long-term maintenance agreement for a 430 MW natural gas fired and ultra-low sulfur diesel simple cycle power plant located in Texas on behalf of nationally recognized leading retail electricity and power generation company.
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including an EPC agreement, turbine supply agreement and long-term maintenance agreement for a 300 MW natural gas fired simple cycle power plant located in Indiana on behalf of nationally recognized electric utility company.
Chemicals
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including an engineering services agreement, a 2-stage EPC agreement, equipment supply agreement, technology licensing agreement and gas supply agreement for the development of a large-scale adiponitrile production facility in Shanghai, China.
- Preparation of an EPCm contract, construction services agreement, purchase order form, and design services agreement for the development of an acetic acid production facility and an accompanying expansion of a methanol production plant outside of Houston, Texas.
- Preparation of project development agreements, including a build-transfer agreement, construction management agreement, operation and maintenance agreement and gas rights agreement for the development of a renewable natural gas facility to process landfill gas recovered from an existing municipal solid waste disposal facility on behalf of client developer.
- Represent internationally recognized energy company JV in connection with the disposal of its hydrogen manufacturing located in Saudi Arabia.

- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including EPC agreements for interconnection and balance of plant, construction management agreement and related solar panel supply agreement for a photovoltaic solar energy project with an approximate capacity of 150 MW AC located in Illinois.
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including EPC agreements for interconnection and balance of plant, construction management agreement and related solar panel supply agreement for a photovoltaic solar energy project with an approximate capacity of 180 MW AC located in Ohio.
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including EPC agreements for interconnection and balance of plant, construction management agreement and related solar panel supply agreement for a photovoltaic solar energy project with an approximate capacity of 100 MW AC located in Ohio.

- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including an EPC and related battery supply agreement for a 260 MW battery energy storage system in Texas on behalf of a leading retail electricity and power generation company in the U.S.
- Preparation of suite of construction and installation agreement templates and related operation and maintenance agreement templates for use on multiple projects throughout the U.S. on behalf of nationally recognized rooftop solar installation company.
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements, including a build-transfer agreement, EPC agreement and related battery supply agreement for a 240 MW battery storage and solar facility in Idaho on behalf of local utility company.
- Preparation and negotiation of a master long-term services agreement for the maintenance battery storage equipment on behalf of nationally recognized utility company in Idaho.
LNG
- Preparation of project development agreements, including LNG sale-and-purchase agreements, joint facilities, operating and maintenance and construction management agreements, as well as equity documents for a large-scale Texas-based LNG liquefaction project.
- Preparation of project development agreements, including LNG sale and purchase agreements and related project structuring agreements for an integrated large-scale Louisiana-based LNG liquefaction project.
- Preparation of project development agreements, including a construction management agreement, common facilities agreement, operation and maintenance agreement and project services agreement for the development, in multiple phases, of an LNG liquefaction facility located in Louisiana.
- Preparation and negotiation of project development agreements including an EPCm and related equipment supply agreement in connection with the development of a liquified natural gas liquefaction facility capable of producing 30,000 U.S. gallons of LNG per day located in Mexico.

- Preparation and negotiation of design/build contracts for several large multi-family residential projects across the U.S., including in California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois and Colorado on behalf nationally recognized leading commercial real estate developer.
- Preparation and negotiation of architect agreement and at-risk construction management services agreement for the development of a specially-designed religious center in Houston, Texas.
