Seraphina Chew is a financial services regulatory associate in the London office of Kirkland & Ellis International LLP.

Seraphina has experience advising asset managers, financial sponsors and financial institutions on UK and EU financial regulation and fund matters, including in relation to UK FSMA 2000, MiFID II, EU SFDR, UK ESG and SDR rules, AIFMD, and the FCA rules and guidance.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Seraphina’s representative matters included:

  • Advising on the application of the UK FSMA 2000 and related legislation, the FCA rules and guidance, the UK Payment Services Regulations 2017, and EU financial services legislation including MiFID II and AIFMD.
  • Advising overseas firms wishing to provide investment and payment services in the UK.
  • Advising on public and private M&A and private equity transactions involving regulated financial services firms.
  • Advising clients on the impact of and compliance with EU and UK sustainable finance rules, including the EU SFDR, Taxonomy Regulation and CSRD, and the UK SDR and ESG rules.
  • Advising asset managers on delegation of investment management functions and regulatory review of relevant documentation.
  • Advising UK and overseas firms on the UK process for authorization as a regulated firm in the UK, assisting in obtaining the required regulatory permissions.
