Annie Chiang is a litigation associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Annie’s practice focuses on complex civil and appellate litigation in federal and state courts across the country. Prior to joining Kirkland, Annie served as Assistant Solicitor General to the Commonwealth of Virginia during which she litigated at all levels of the state and federal courts, including representing the Commonwealth before the Supreme Court of United States. In that role, she also protected the interests of the Commonwealth and its citizens as principal brief writer and legal advisor on a diverse portfolio of issues including education policy, public safety and voting rights. While there, Annie successfully argued at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Supreme Court of Virginia as well as second-chaired numerous oral arguments on behalf of the Commonwealth. Prior to her time as Assistant Solicitor General, Annie served as a law clerk to Judge John B. Nalbandian on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and Judge Allison J. Rushing on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
