Since joining Kirkland, Kimia’s representative matters have included:

• Representation of a private equity fund in the $760+ million sale of its manufactured housing platform across 13 states.
• Representation of a real estate company on a portfolio financing of the company’s student housing portfolio.
• Representation of a global investment manager and a sovereign wealth fund, together with its JV partner, for its two portfolio mortgage financings of $550+ million and $210+ million in connection with real estate assets located in 9 different states and 20 assets in 7 different states.
• Represented Washington Prime Group in its Chapter 11 restructuring, including modifying over $1 billion of secured loans, negotiating modifications with its lead joint venture partner on over $1 billion of assets to prepare for the Chapter 11 filing and negotiating a DIP financing and pre-arranged corporate level financing for the emergence of the company.
• Representation of a privately held real estate company and its joint venture partners in connection with its $200+ million mortgage loan financing of a trophy office building located in Downtown Los Angeles, California and its subsequent mezzanine financing.
• Represented a privately held real estate company in the disposition of its single family platform across many states.
• Representation of a publicly traded real estate company in the $110+ million acquisition of an approximately 80 acre campgrounds in South Carolina.
• Represented Guitar Center, Inc., a leading retailer of musical instruments, lessons, repairs and rentals in the United States, with respect to its real estate collateral and financing matters in connection with its add-on offering of $200 million aggregate principal amount of 8.500% Senior Secured Notes due 2026.
• Represented TPG in numerous acquisitions, financings, joint ventures, and dispositions across various asset classes including single family rental, industrial/distribution, single tenant office, multi-tenant office and lab and life science.
• Represented private equity firm in the acquisition of industrial assets and financing with respect to a new loan-on-loan facility with a European bank.
• Represented a family-owned real estate company in a divisive reorganization of its real estate business, structured as a tax-free spin-off, pursuant to which each family branch acquired equity interests in entities holding individual real estate properties and related assets, excluding the legacy business.
• Representation of a global logistics investor in connection with the acquisition of various properties in New Jersey, California, Texas, and Washington.
• Representation of a real estate private equity firm in connection with joint ventures for assets located in New Jersey and Oregon.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Kimia’s representative matters included:

• Representation of an institutional bank in connection with the financing of a three-story class A office headquarters of a leading global investment firm in Beverly Hills, California.
• Representation of a Swiss bank in connection with the mortgage and mezzanine financing of a historic luxury hotel in Santa Monica, California.
• Representation of a leading, alternative investment firm in the tenanting of its state-of-the-art marquee food hall on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California.
• Representation of a real estate firm in the acquisition and financing of a trophy mixed-use property and office tower in Chicago, Illinois.
