Michael Farrell is a tax partner in the Salt Lake City office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Michael's practice focuses on the tax aspects of complex business transactions including domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts, as well as joint ventures, recapitalizations and debt and equity restructurings.

Representative Matters
Prior to joining Kirkland, Michael was involved in the following matters:
Represented a consolidated group of privately held entities in its sale of more than 350 convenience stores throughout Texas to a multinational oil and gas company.
Represented one of the largest chains in the convenience retailing industry with regard to the tax aspects of its acquisition of more than 100 gasoline and convenience store locations.
Represented one of the largest banks in Israel in a FATCA investigation before the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of Justice.
