Overview
Erin Johnston is a litigation partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Erin has represented several Fortune 500 companies and household names, helping them to resolve complex business disputes in state and federal courts across the country. She has successfully handled contract disputes, securities and accounting cases, fraud claims, antitrust matters, trade secret misappropriation, products liability claims, class actions, government investigations, and appeals. Erin was recognized by The National Law Journal as a “D.C. Rising Star” and by The Legal 500 U.S. for General Commercial Disputes. Erin also was named an “Emerging Women Leader in Private Practice” by DCA Live and a “Rising Star” in Business Litigation twice by Super Lawyers.
Erin earned her law degree from the NYU School of Law and her B.A. cum laude from the University of California at Los Angeles. In law school, Erin interned with both the Innocence Project and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. She has continued that civic commitment at Kirkland, receiving the Firm’s Pro Bono Service Award multiple times. Erin also holds several leadership roles within the Firm, including serving as Chair of the Diversity Committee and the Women’s Professional Network in the D.C. office, for which she was profiled in Washington Lawyer Magazine.

Counsel to board of directors of San Juan Cable LLC in antitrust matter alleging that a series of litigation filed against a potential competitor was sham litigation. Puerto Rico federal court awarded a full summary judgment victory for defendants.

Counsel to cable company Charter Communications regarding lender claims of breach of $11 billion secured financing agreement. Court found in favor of Charter on all claims, in what the Court characterized as “one of the most hotly contested confirmation battles ever conducted.”
