Complex Commercial Litigation
City of Ville Platte v. SP Ville Platte WWTP, LLC (W.D. La.). Represented Ridgewood Infrastructure in lawsuit filed by the City of Ville Platte concerning Ridgewood's construction of a new wastewater treatment facility in Ville Platte, Louisiana. The city sued to avoid the contract on the theory that it violated Louisiana law and had been fraudulently procured. Kirkland secured final dismissal as part of a favorable settlement for Ridgewood.
Secured summary judgment in a billion-dollar securities case for energy management company related to a de-SPAC.
Represented investment bank in successfully securing approval of its fee application from representation of debtors in bankruptcy.
