Overview

William Kimmitt is a litigation partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. His practice focuses principally on complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts throughout the country. William has represented clients in a wide variety of such cases, with substantial experience handling highly technical cases involving international trade, trade secrets and product liability. His practice also includes counseling clients in connection with government and internal investigations, advising clients on trade and geopolitical matters, and representing clients in Section 337 unfair import investigations before the International Trade Commission.

William previously served as Counselor to the United States Trade Representative, where he advised the U.S. Trade Representative on trade policy and legal matters. While at USTR, William had extensive involvement in the implementation and entry into force of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, and his work included significant engagement with senior foreign officials, interagency colleagues, congressional staff and private industry on a broad array of international trade and investment issues.
