Overview

Michael R. Lee is a partner of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he is a founding member of the Los Angeles office’s Investment Funds Practice Group. His practice focuses on the formation, structuring, marketing, management and regulatory compliance of investment funds, as well as the operational, legal and regulatory issues faced by their sponsors. In addition, Michael counsels fund sponsors on internal economic and governance matters, including minority sale transactions and other firm- and fund-level strategic transactions, succession planning and separation arrangements. Michael also advises fund sponsors on fund-related aspects of M&A transactions, including deal structuring, co-investment arrangements and alternative investment structures. Michael also has experience advising fund sponsors in connection with secondaries and other liquidity solutions transactions.

Michael has advised fund sponsors in connection with structuring and forming investment funds ranging from hundreds of millions to tens of billions of dollars. His experience includes advising sponsors ranging from emerging managers to leading global asset managers.
