Overview

Garrett Messerly is a trial partner in the Salt Lake City office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Garrett’s practice focuses on representing and advising clients before and during trial for all manner of complex commercial litigation and product liability matters in both federal and state courts. Garrett also has experience representing and advising clients in government facing investigations and white collar criminal defense.

Garrett is an experienced trial attorney and litigator. Before joining the Firm, Garrett served in the United States Air Force JAG Corps. During his years of service, Garrett distinguished himself as a premier litigator, prosecuting a variety of felony-level crimes in military justice and criminal cases. Garrett also oversaw and conducted numerous internal investigations. Following his time as a prosecutor, Garrett was selected to serve as a defense attorney at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where he defended cadets, airmen, and officers in all military justice cases and adverse administrative actions. While stationed at the Academy, Garrett also guest lectured at the Academy's Department of Law.
