Oscar Robinson is a partner in Kirkland’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group in London. His practice focuses on complex patent litigation and strategy in life sciences and telecommunications (SEP / FRAND).
Oscar has acted in many of the major FRAND disputes before the High Court, Court of Appeal and UK Supreme Court in recent years and is known for his experience in this area.
Oscar has a technical background in biological sciences and has used this in cases involving antibody engineering, diagnostic testing and bispecific antibodies.

Representative Matters
Since joining Kirkland, Oscar has been involved in the following matters:
Lenovo v. Ericsson — Representing Lenovo in its implementer led case for a FRAND cross licence involving multiple novel issues of law including the availability of an interim licensing regime and the availability of interim injunctive relief.
Lenovo v. Ericsson — Representing Lenovo in its case for determination of provisions of the prior licence agreement existing between Ericsson and Motorola Mobility.
InterDigital v. Lenovo — Representing Lenovo in SEP/FRAND litigation against major non-practising entity InterDigital, securing major win on FRAND rate in the second ever trial in the UK to determine global FRAND licensing terms. Also representing Lenovo in a technical trial concerning data scheduling in the LTE-Advanced standard.
Dr Reddy's & Ors v. Pfizer — Acting for Pfizer in damages proceedings against the Department of Health and seven Generic groups in relation to Lyrica® (pregabalin) the most complex damages inquiry considered by the UK court.
Pfizer v. Amgen — Representing Pfizer in relation to UK patent litigation to clear the way for the launch of a major new bispecific antibody cancer treatment.
Sisvel & Mitsubishi v. Xiaomi & Ors — Represented Xiaomi in defence of UK claims for SEP infringement and FRAND relief by Sisvel.
Advised leading healthcare and medical device company in relation to major multinational medical device patent litigation.
Prior to joining Kirkland, Oscar was involved in the following matters:
Unwired Planet v. Huawei / Conversant v. Huawei — Acted for Huawei in the market defining jurisdictional challenge to the UK Supreme Court made against the English Court’s ability to grant global FRAND licences.
Conversant v. Huawei — Representing Huawei in defending a market-leading global FRAND and SEP infringement action, which settled shortly before trial.
Premaitha Health v. Illumina — Represented Premaitha Health, a small UK-based innovative diagnostics company, in a large, multi-patent litigation relating to non-invasive prenatal testing and next generation sequencing technology against Illumina, Inc.
Warner-Lambert v. Actavis; Warner-Lambert v. Mylan — Represented Warner-Lambert (a Pfizer group company) in its appeal to the UK Supreme Court in relation to landmark UK second medical use patent litigation against multiple generic parties concerning Lyrica® (pregabalin), its multi-billion dollar blockbuster treatment for pain. The case is considered to be seminal authority on a wide range of previously unresolved legal issues in relation to the validity and enforcement of second medical use patents in the UK.
Teva v. Boehringer Ingelheim — Acted for Boehringer Ingelheim in its global formulation patent against Teva in relation to BI’s blockbuster SPIRIVA® COPD inhalation product worth over $3 billion in sales worldwide.
Warner-Lambert v. Sandoz — Represented Warner-Lambert (a Pfizer group company) in successfully securing urgent injunctive relief to prevent the launch of a full label generic version of Lyrica® (pregabalin), its multi-billion dollar blockbuster treatment for pain.
Regeneron v. Kymab — Acted for Regeneron in its infringement claim against the Kymab Kymouse ® a case which is now a key authority on insufficiency as a result of enablement across the breadth of the claim.
Acted for a global pharmaceutical company on worldwide product lifecycle management strategy for a key neurology product.
