Simon is an associate in the Litigation Team of the Hong Kong office of Kirkland & Ellis. Simon advises clients in a broad range of complex commercial disputes (including claims relating to bond default, professional negligence and breach of sale and purchase agreements), as well as cross-border insolvency and enforcement proceedings, with a particular focus on China-related disputes. His clients include state-owned enterprises, bondholder committees, banks, global accounting firms, international law firms, high-net-worth individuals and institutional and individual investors in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand.
Simon has advised clients in proceedings at various levels of the Hong Kong courts, including the Court of First Instance, Court of Appeal and Court of Final Appeal.
Simon also works closely with the Firm’s restructuring and corporate teams in formulating and implementing cross-border enforcement strategies, and advising on interpretation and drafting of contractual terms and other litigation-related issues.
Outside of client work, Simon is an active supporter of the Firm’s pro bono initiatives and received awards in the Law Society of Hong Kong’s annual Pro Bono and Community Work Programmes.
Simon is admitted to practice in England and Wales, and Hong Kong. He previously trained and worked in the London and Hong Kong offices of a Magic Circle firm. Simon is trilingual, and routinely drafts documents in English and Chinese.
