Dominic Spence is a partner in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He advises both U.S. and non-U.S. clients on a wide range of domestic and cross-border real estate-related transactions. Dominic has experience representing private equity investors in connection with the formation of joint ventures and acquisitions, dispositions, mergers, financings and development of real estate and real estate-related assets. He also has experience representing institutional clients in connection with the real estate aspects of corporate transactions and leasing related matters.

Since joining Kirkland, Dominic has been involved in the following matters:
Represented U.S. private equity fund in connection with its formation of a joint venture and acquisition of a $110 million hospitality asset located in Georgia.
Represented Starwood Capital Group in its acquisition of Extended Stay America in a joint venture with Blackstone for approximately $6 billion.
Represented a private equity fund in connection with its formation of a joint venture and $410 million equity acquisition of several multifamily assets located in Florida.
Represented a private equity fund in connection with its formation of a joint venture and $565 million acquisition of several multifamily assets located in North Carolina.
Prior to joining Kirkland, Dominic was involved in the following matters:
Represented a private equity fund in connection with its joint venture and $180 million acquisition of multifamily assets in New York City.
Advised an international real estate investment firm in connection with its formation of a joint venture and $3 billion acquisition of a real estate logistics development firm.
Represented a national developer in connection with its $255 million acquisition and financing of a Manhattan office building.
Represented a national real estate investment firm in connection with its $31.5 million acquisition of a mixed-use real estate portfolio in Manhattan.
Advised a U.S. multinational mass media company in connection with its $66 billion acquisition by a multinational mass media conglomerate and the related pre-merger spin-off of certain business units.
Dominic has an active and diverse pro bono practice. He provides assistance with asylum applications for LGBT immigrants and humanitarian parole applications for separated families. He has also represented a New York non-profit in connection with several real estate related transactions whose mission is to ensure that all New Yorkers have equitable access to green space.
