Overview

Mike Whalen is a litigation partner in Kirkland’s Chicago office. He counsels companies, sponsors and individuals through complex commercial disputes both in and out of court. He has extensive experience handling breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent transfer, common law fraud, securities fraud, bankruptcy and employment mobility disputes. Mike has an active in-court practice and regularly appears in federal and state courts at the trial and appellate levels across the country, including in New York, California, Texas, Illinois and Delaware. He has successfully tried cases in federal courts and before arbitration tribunals and has led argument and briefing on numerous appeals and dispositive motions in federal and state court.

Mike has been named as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers and as “One to Watch” by Best Lawyers. Prior to entering private practice, Mike clerked for the Honorable Thomas L. Ludington of the Eastern District of Michigan.
