Innovative Lawyers Report

In the Financial Times "Innovative Lawyers Report 2009", Kirkland received commendations for  its work during "US Financial Crisis and the Downturn 2009" on behalf of Constellation Energy Group and Masonite Inc. The FT evaluated law firm work based on originality, rationale and import.

The editorial commented on the Firm's work for Constellation: "In the midst of the economic storm, the firm negotiated a takeover of Constellation Energy by Warren Buffett's Mid-American. They then used a fiduciary out option to enable a merger with EDF, ensuring the future survival of the company."

Regarding the Firm's work for Masonite, the editorial commented: "Pre-negotiated bankruptcy proceedings enabled Masonite Inc to leave Chapter 11 as rapidly as possible, emerging with a de-leveraged balance sheet and a stronger management."

The "Innovative Lawyers Report" is based on 600 submissions, 690 interviews and more than six months of research concerning the legal profession across Europe.
