Kirkland was recognized at the 2011 Philanthropy Awards, which are sponsored by the Washington Business Journal. The awards ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C., honored local companies and executives for their efforts supporting philanthropic groups and causes in the community. Kirkland was honored in the categories of "Most Monetary Giving" and "Law Firms with the Most Pro Bono Hours."
