The Transatlantic Elite

For the fourth consecutive year, The Lawyer magazine named Kirkland one of the "Sweet Sixteen" law firms in its "Transatlantic Elite" supplement. The feature included five UK- and 11 U.S.-based law firms identified as the "market leaders ... as advisers to the biggest and best clients around the globe on their most complex, challenging and remunerative matters" with "top talent, managerial vision, strategic verve and an unmatched ability to execute."

The 2011 feature focused on work in the area of energy and natural resources. Kirkland's work for clients such as Flying J, Marubeni, TIAA-CREF, OPTrust Private Markets and BP, was highlighted. Partners David Fox, Stephen Fraidin, Mitchell Hertz and Elaine Walsh were identified as "star partners."

To create the "Sweet Sixteen," The Lawyer referenced data including law firm finances, lawyer headcounts and deal tables. The magazine also interviewed partners, consultants and legal market watchers.
