Kirkland Honored as IP Litigation Department of the Year at the 2024 New York Legal Awards

New York Law Journal named Kirkland & Ellis the “IP Litigation Department of the Year” at the 2024 New York Legal Awards.

Kirkland’s team was honored for its most significant achievements over the last two years in noteworthy cases for marquee clients across diverse industries, in venues where IP matters are most often litigated. These wins include a precedential jury trial victory for a video game company in a case related to the copyrightability of tattoos; securing market exclusivity of a blockbuster cancer drug for a major pharmaceutical company in a series of 14 related district court cases; and a victory at the International Trade Commission for a software giant related to the importation of mobile phones into the United States.

Since May 2022, Kirkland’s New York IP attorneys have secured more than tens of millions of dollars in damages and other awards for clients, while helping defendants avoid outright or mitigate potentially billions in damages claims and threatened injunctive relief.

According to IP partner Jeanna Wacker, “Kirkland is a firm with a remarkable spirit of collaboration. Our attorneys thrive when presented with a challenge, and they immediately jump into action to assemble a team tailored to address a client’s challenges.”

The Awards honor those who have made a remarkable difference in the legal profession in New York – whether in shaping the law, achieving outsized results for their clients, being an outstanding jurist or assisting those in need of legal services.
