Kirkland Partner Seth Traxler Recognized in Variety’s Dealmakers List 2024

Variety named Kirkland & Ellis partner Seth Traxler to its 2024 “Dealmakers List,” which spotlights entertainment’s top lawyers, financiers, entrepreneurs and executives.

Seth was recognized for being “at the center of two of the year’s biggest music catalog deals, (representing) Blackstone in its $1.6 billion purchase of Hipgnosis Songs Fund in April and Universal Music Group in its acquisition of a 25.8% stake in Chord Music Partners for a reported $240 million in February.”

“Most every client I’m in contact with about acquisitions feels that as interest rates hopefully continue to come down and economic conditions improve in different countries, opportunities will re-emerge to acquire catalogs,” Seth told Variety. “There are still plenty of interesting catalogs at all sizes and all levels to attract different kinds of music companies. We need to work harder to show the value proposition to secure long-term, multi-part deals.”
