Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout Outs

Partners Mike Williams and Ned Hillenbrand were recognized as runners-up for The American Lawyer Litigation Daily's "Litigator of the Week" contest for their work alongside the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) representing nearly 20,000 Afghan people seeking asylum in the United States. Associates Joe D’Antonio, Michael Quinn, Morgan Phoenix and Sanjay Nevrekar, and pro bono counsel Ashley Huebner were also highlighted. 

"...Our next runner-up spot goes to Mike Williams, Edward “Ned” Hillenbrand and their team at Kirkland & Ellis who have been working alongside the National Immigrant Justice Center representing about 20,000 Afghan asylum seekers in the United States. In a settlement finalized last week, the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services agreed to a timeline for making asylum decisions regarding those still in limbo after more than two years after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. The team also included Kirkland associates Joe D’Antonio, Michael Quinn, Morgan Phoenix and Sanjay Nevrekar, and pro bono counsel Ashley Huebner. The NIJC team included attorneys Keren Zwick and Richard Caldarone."
