Kirkland Partner Emily Hughes Elected a Fellow of American College of Tax Counsel
Kirkland & Ellis is pleased to announce that litigation partner Emily Hughes has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, a professional association of tax attorneys in private law firms and in-house legal departments, on the bench, in federal or state government, or in academia.
Election as a Fellow requires significant professional experience in tax or tax-related matters and active involvement and commitment to the tax field, including serving in bar associations and speaking at conferences. Ms. Hughes has been involved in criminal and civil tax investigations and litigations and represents clients before the DOJ Tax Division, IRS, SEC and other domestic and foreign regulators on tax-related matters. She served on the D.C. Bar’s Tax Audits and Litigation Committee for four years as vice chair and then chair and has spoken at regional and national tax conferences.
Ms. Hughes is one of 16 new Fellows recognized for exceptional contributions to their profession. Ms. Hughes received this honor at the College’s annual meeting in San Diego, California on February 11, 2023. She joins David Wheat and David Foster as other Kirkland attorneys who are active members of the American College of Tax Counsel.
