Kirkland Advises Talen on Sale of Zero-Carbon Data Center Campus
Kirkland & Ellis counseled Talen Energy Corp. (OTCQX: TLNE) on the sale of its 960-megawatt Cumulus data center campus in northeast Pennsylvania to a major cloud service provider. As part of the transaction, Talen and the cloud service provider have agreed to a long-term power purchase agreement whereby Talen will sell carbon-free, behind-the-meter power to the service provider from Talen’s adjacent Susquehanna nuclear plant.
The Kirkland team was led by corporate partners Bill Benitez, Josh Teahen and Andy Calder; and energy regulatory partner Drew Stuyvenberg led the Kirkland team in connection with the power purchase agreements.
