Overview

John Berger is a partner in the Investment Funds Practice Group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and a member of Kirkland’s industry-leading Strategic GP Solutions practice. He advises asset managers on complex business transactions, including minority investments, structured equity transactions, control sales, spin-outs, seeding and financing transactions, as well as investment manager incentive compensation arrangements, internal restructurings and firm institutionalization and succession planning arrangements. He also advises emerging investment managers on pre-fund investment arrangements. He has also advised private equity firms and their portfolio companies on strategic and leveraged acquisitions and divestitures, equity and debt financings, recapitalizations, executive compensation and incentive equity matters, as well as general corporate counseling and compliance.
