Overview

Susan Eisenberg is a partner in the Investment Funds Group at Kirkland & Ellis, based in the Houston office. Her practice focuses on representing private equity and other alternative asset managers in fundraising, governance, organizational structure, internal operations, regulatory compliance and related matters. Susan’s experience includes advising clients on fund formation, capital raising and operation of private investment funds and their management companies, marketing and placement agent arrangements, investment and trading issues, co-investment vehicles, fund restructurings and continuation vehicles, secondary sales, fund liquidations, investment adviser registration, compliance policies, regulatory investigations and exams, carried interest arrangements and succession planning. She also works on transactions among asset managers, including spin outs, seed investments and joint ventures.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Susan was the Global Product Counsel of KKR Credit where she oversaw the legal affairs of each investment product across all investment strategies within KKR Credit, including direct lending, special situations, mezzanine, specialty finance, opportunistic credit and traded credit. She played a key role in the development and launch of new products within KKR Credit and advised on a number of other issues. Prior to KKR, Susan was an associate in the private investment funds group at Ropes & Gray.
