Sean Kramer is a partner in the San Francisco and Los Angeles offices of Kirkland & Ellis, where he serves as a member of the global Executive Committee and helps lead the Firm’s transactional practice on the West Coast.

Sean’s practice focuses on representing top-tier financial sponsors and their portfolio companies on all types and sizes of M&A transactions. He regularly represents private equity, growth equity and venture capital funds — and a variety of strategic operating companies — across sectors, with a particular focus on technology, healthcare and business services.

Sean's broad experience in business, law and education provides a unique perspective to dealmaking, and his clients value that his legal judgment is complemented by a deep understanding of the commercial implications of transactions for investors, founders and management teams.

Sean previously held a senior position at a market-leading litigation finance fund, before returning to the Firm and relocating to the Bay Area. He received a J.D. (with Honors) from the University of Chicago Law School, where he co-founded the Corporate Lab and continues to serve as a lecturer.
