Since joining Kirkland, Kunal has been involved in the following matters:

• Advising Highland Europe on the close of its fifth fund, raising €1 billion.
• Advising GIC as LP counsel on its investment in a property-focussed SMA.
• Advising a private equity sponsor in relation to the formation of a €1 billion growth equity fund.
• Advising a leading real estate investment manager on the restructuring of an existing real estate fund and incentive structure.
• Advising multiple sponsors in relation to the formation of credit funds focussed on different categories of debt investments.
• Advising a leading sponsor in relation to an international withholding tax dispute.

Prior to joining Kirkland, Kunal was involved in the following matters:

• Representing Aozora GMAC Investment Limited in the landmark judicial review heard by the Court of Appeal in The Queen oao Aozora GMAC Investment Limited v HMRC [2017] EWHC 2881.
• Representing Aozora GMAC Investments Limited in the first-tier tribunal in Aozora GMAC Investments Limited v HMRC [2021] UKFTT 0099 (TC).
• Advising a sponsor with the formation of a tokenised fund investing across Europe and South America.
• Advising a leading asset manager in the formation of a real-estate fund involving unregulated and regulated vehicles.
• Advising Elite Commercial REIT on the formation of the first UK-focussed Singapore REIT.
• Advising a leading pension fund in the structuring of an SMA.
• Advising UK and non-UK occupational pensions schemes, local government pension schemes, life assurance companies and insurance companies in relation to their investments in regulated and unregulated funds.
• Advising a major technology company in relation to a mutual agreement procedure in relation to a transfer pricing dispute.
• Advising on the structuring of various major developmental and infrastructure projects.
• Advising on various private equity M&A transactions.
