Charles Tanenbaum is a partner in the Investment Funds Practice Group in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He has more than a decade of experience representing private funds clients and is part of Kirkland’s leading, global investment funds platform. Charles has an unwavering commitment to providing his clients with best-in-class service, commercial advice, innovative solutions and strategic support at every stage of their firms’ lifecycles.
Charles built his career advising clients on a wide variety of fund formation and related matters, including numerous formations and fundraises across a broad spectrum of strategies and sponsors including private equity buyout funds, credit funds, real estate funds, co-invest vehicles, fund-of-one and single asset vehicles, and alternative investment vehicle structures.
He regularly guides clients through a wide range of operational and commercial issues, helping them navigate regulatory and compliance matters, placement agent agreements, conflicts, allocations, cross-fund transactions, investor relations matters, limited partner transfers and confidentiality considerations. He also advises clients on complex management company “upper tier” arrangements and has represented leading global investment firms in their investment management M&A transactions, including the sale of minority stakes.
Charles received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2013. He earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Amherst College in 2009. Charles is admitted to practice in New York.
