Most Successful Restructurings of 2016

In Turnarounds & Workouts’ annual report on the bankruptcy industry, Kirkland was recognized as debtor counsel for two of the 12 most successful restructurings of 2016: Sabine Oil & Gas and C&J Energy Services Ltd.

Partners Jonathan Henes, Christopher Marcus, Ryan Bennett, Gabor Balassa and Katie Jakola were debtor’s counsel to Sabine Oil & Gas. The case “confirmed a plan of reorganization that significantly reduced its debt obligations and secured the financial commitments necessary to fund the restructuring and go-forward business needs.”

Partners James Sprayregen, Marc Kieselstein, Chad Husnick and Emily Geier were debtor’s counsel to C&J Energy Services Ltd. The case “resulted in a total deleveraging of its balance sheet” and “established a liquidating trust funded with at least $33 million in cash and valuable new warrants.”
