Kirkland Recognized in Financial Times’ 2024 North American Innovative Lawyers Report
The Financial Times recognized Kirkland & Ellis in four categories as part of its 2024 North American Innovative Lawyers report, which spotlights the key trends and transformations taking place in the legal sector over the past 12 months.
In the Dispute Resolution category, Kirkland was commended for “successfully defend(ing) video game maker Take-Two Interactive against a lawsuit, establishing that tattoo artists cannot claim intellectual property rights over their work when it appears on celebrities in video games.”
In the People and Skills category, Kirkland was lauded for its corporate generalist curriculum, which combines “training about discrete practice areas into a single, mandatory, two-year curriculum in order to broaden young associates’ understanding of the legal market.”
The FT also recognized Kirkland in the Digital Legal Products category for its Non-Reliance Letter (NRL) tool, which limits “liability for due diligence in transactions” and has generated “more than 1,000 such clauses for hundreds of counterparties.”
Kirkland partner Daniel Lavon-Krein was also recognized among the 10 Most Innovative Practitioners as “a pioneer in advising private equity sponsors and buyers on complex minority investments in existing firms, on sale-of-control, and on other strategic transactions.”
