Arguments Over North Carolina Voter ID Law Begin in Federal Court

"The bitter dispute about North Carolina’s elections laws returned to a federal courtroom here on Monday as the state’s voter identification requirement went on trial.

'The state has engaged in a game of whack-a-mole with one of our most basic constitutional rights,' Michael A. Glick, a lawyer for the North Carolina chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. and other plaintiffs, told Judge Thomas D. Schroeder of the Federal District Court."
