Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout-Outs

Kirkland received a shout-out for The American Lawyer Litigation Daily's "Litigator of the Week" for its work for client Cornell University. 

"... Shout-out to a group of large law firms that helped Ivy League universities beat back antitrust claims based on their agreement not to award athletic scholarships and to base financial aid decisions solely on need. U.S. Judge Alvin Thompson in Connecticut granted the schools' motion to dismiss, finding that the Ivies lacked market power over athletically and academically high-achieving students since other schools offer those students athletic scholarships, including Northwestern, Duke and Stanford. The defense lineup included Wilmer for the University of Pennsylvania, Morgan Lewis for Brown University, Skadden for Columbia University, Kirkland for Cornell University, Jenner & Block for Dartmouth College, Sullivan & Cromwell for Harvard University, Crowell & Moring for Princeton University, Hogan Lovells for Yale University and Covington & Burling for the Ivy Group presidents."
