Kirkland & Ellis Advises CVC Capital Partners on Latest European Private Equity Fund

Kirkland & Ellis International LLP advised CVC Capital Partners on its latest European private equity fund, CVC European Equity Partners V, which held its final closing in January 2009. Partner Richard Watkins led the Kirkland team with partner Kate Simpson and associate John MacGarty in London, and partners Kirk Radke and Patrick Gallagher in New York. Whilst the final amount raised remains confidential, the fund represents one of the largest pools of private equity capital raised in recent years and successfully attracted investments from a broad range of institutional investors in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

"That the fund attracted such demand during a period spanning the collapse of Lehman Brothers and related global economic events, is testament to the strength of the track record and the team at CVC Capital Partners," said Mr. Watkins. "We are pleased to have been able to assist CVC in the formation of another highly successful fund."
