Oprah picks "That Bird Has My Wings" by Jarvis Jay Masters for her book club
Partner Mike Williams spoke with CBS Mornings about Kirkland’s pro bono representation of Jarvis Jay Masters in an effort to exonerate him of a crime that he did not commit. Jarvis has maintained his innocence while incarcerated on death row for over 30 years. Oprah has chosen Jarvis’ book, “That Bird Has My Wings: The Autobiography of an Innocent Man on Death Row,” the story of his journey and wrongful conviction, as her September Book Club selection.
The Kirkland team includes support from attorneys across the Firm, including litigation partner Mike Williams and associates Rachel Clarke, Kathryn Panish, Kianna Early and Matthew Zhu. Former partners Erica Williams, Ashley Littlefield and Austin Klar were also involved in providing counsel for Jarvis’ case.
