Kirkland & Ellis LLP Plans to Open Office in Silicon Valley

Kirkland & Ellis LLP is planning to open a Silicon Valley office in the fall of 2008.  Silicon Valley would be the Firm's ninth office worldwide, seventh office domestically, and third office on the west coast.  Kirkland's most recent domestic office opened in San Francisco in 2003.

The office will initially focus in the areas of private equity and intellectual property litigation.

The office will be led by Jeffrey Hammes and will include partners from existing Kirkland offices.  Adam Phillips, from the Firm's New York office, will focus on the private equity group, while Christian (Chadd) Taylor, from the San Francisco office, will focus on the new office's intellectual property group.

"In part as a result of our highly successful San Francisco opening, we have several significant private equity and Fortune 500 hi-tech clients in Silicon Valley," says Mr. Hammes.  "The new office will expand our presence in the Bay Area and enhance our ability to provide first-rate lawyering to Silicon Valley companies."

Kirkland & Ellis LLP is a 1,400-attorney law firm representing global clients in complex private equity and corporate, intellectual property and technology, litigation, dispute resolution and arbitration, restructuring and tax matters.  The Firm has offices in Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Munich, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
