Overview

Derek Ventling is an associate in the Technology and IP Transactions Practice in the Austin, Texas office. Derek advises clients on the intellectual property and technology aspects of complex corporate transactions, including carve-outs, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, private capital investments, restructurings and debt financing transactions. In addition to his transactional experience, Derek also advises clients on commercial matters, such as licensing and joint venture arrangements, as well as counseling clients on issues relating to information security, data privacy and artificial intelligence.

Derek is also a guest-lecturer at University of Texas Law School and supports a course on negotiating corporate transactions. He was recognized by Super Lawyers among its 2024 “Rising Stars.”
